Michael Jordan- The Businessman

My favorite basketball player of all time Michael Jeffrey Jordan (born February 17, 1963) was hailed “By acclamation, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time.” as stated in the NBA (National Basketball Association) website. His unique ability of hanging in the air gave him the nickname ‘Air Jordan’. A retired professional basketball player and business man is now one of the wealthiest celebrities. According to Forbes, he ranks number 18th.

Michael Jordan owns his own product line and the Jordan Brand is now an $800 million a year (in sales) business for Nike—and the royalty checks from that provide the bulk of Jordan’s income. Now he’s head of basketball operations for the Charlotte Bobcats.

I would just like to talk about Jordan because he is such a successful player in his time and is one of the legends. People will all think that he was always successful and have no setbacks in life. However, nobody is perfect and I just love this quote that he made

‘I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.’
Michael Jordan

I still remember the days where I use to wake up early in the morning to watch the live NBA games with my brother. We will have a ‘long breakfast’ and sit in front of our TV the whole morning.

Here is a video of Michael Jordan on You Tube. His 10 amazing ‘Airness’

For God’s Sake

This is an interesting story about an old man. One day in a village where this old man was living, a big flood came. At the beginning, the flood was not very serious. However, villagers were already taking precautions to evacuate. So, the old man’s neighbor went to ask the old man, “Uncle, the water is rising, we are moving to the evacuation camp, why don’t you come with us?” said the neighbor.  The old man said, “No thanks, God will take care of me”. Then the neighbor said, “For God’s sake uncle, come with us”. But the old man still refused.

As the water level rose, the old man had to climb higher to keep away from the rising water. Then, a boat with some volunteer pass by and ask the old man, “ Uncle, the flood is getting worse, come and leave with us now!” but, the old man said, “ Thanks but no thanks young man, God will take care of me”. Then the volunteer worker replied” For God’s sake uncle, come with us”. But the uncle still refused to move.

As the day went on, the flood got even worse and the old man had to climb onto the roof of his house. At this time, a rescue helicopter was patrolling to see if there was anybody who was still trap at the flood area and they found the old man. The rescue team spoke to the old man.” Uncle, come on to the helicopter, the water is rising crazily. You life is in danger” however, the old man once again replied, “No thanks, God will take care of me”. Everyone from the helicopter shouted at the old man.” FOR GOD’s SAKE! COME ON!” But still the old man remained on the roof of his house knowing that God will take care of him and in the end, he lost his life due to the flood.

As the old man went to heaven, he asks God, “God, why didn’t you come and help me?” God replied, “I sent your neighbor to help you, they even said for God’s sake but you didn’t listen”. The old man then replied,” How would I know they were sent by you”. God then told him he also sent the rescue boat and the helicopter. God said, “Did they say for God’s sake?” At this time, the old man realizes that he had missed all the signs that God gave him and there is no return for him now.
