Overcome Public Speaking Fear

In certain times in your life, there will sure be day where you will need to speak publicly. It may be to 10 people, 100 people or even thousands. I myself spoke publicly to almost 100 people in a meeting and trust me, it wasn’t easy. But if you never do it, you will never know that you can do it. I am a person who does not like to regret things, so I went for this challenge.

Here are some tips that I read on a newspaper recently and I feel it is very useful to help anyone out there who is having this problem. There are a few reasons that cause this phobia and one of it is the felling of fear of being judged, lack of confidence and so on. Most of the times, visualizing the crowd and practicing in front of a mirror still do not prepare you thoroughly.

So, to be able to overcome this public speaking phobia, you must develop confidence within yourself. The surer you are about yourself, the less fear and hesitation you will show when you speak. You just have to remember yourself that you have something you share and it doesn’t matter if you are shaking or stammering. If you really do stammer or show that you are nervous, don’t make a big deal about it and carry on.

You must also release your tension before doing your speech. Different people release their tension differently. Some examples are like taking a deep breath, press against the wall and self-talk. Drinking excessive caffeine is not recommended because you do not want to be in a state where you need the bathroom. So, try to take your mind off the task at hand and put yourself in a physiological position where the audience is nothing to be feared off.

One step which I thing is the most important is to do your research. It is important to know what you are talking about because it gives you more confidence. Before your speaking day, go through points organized. Know your materials if you are using any.

The last tip is the magic tip which is to practice, practice and practice. You will become better with more practice. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect.

My Christmas

Hah… Christmas just passed and I had a good holiday trip with my girlfriend. We also brought her mum and 2 nephews together with us.

It has been a while since I had a holiday and I am so happy that I was able to spend it with my girlfriend. We went to Malaysia’s entertainment summit, the Genting Highlands. We stayed at the Awana Genting Hotel.

Our room at Awana Genting

As it was the holiday season, there were many people in Genting Highlands. The cable car was crowded with tourist and also locals of course. We had to wait 30 minutes to get on the cable car and the trip up hill was kind of scary because of the weather. Strong wind made the cable car pause many times. The usual few minutes ride took us almost half an hour to get to where the fun was.

Eventually, we got up there and started our day. We had our lunch and then went on to have fun. Aall the ride were filled with people lining up and we had to follow into the crowd too. We can’t complain because it is the holiday season plus the school holidays. It was packed everywhere.

Nevertheless, we did have some fun. Especially the nephews, it was their first time there and they were very excited. Unfortunately for the weather, they could only enjoy the indoor fun. We also had a lot of attention from people around us because they are 2 cute twins.

Beautiful Christmas Decoration

At night in the hotel room, the 2 twins went berserk with 2 huge bed as they jump from 1 to another again and again J . They also had their water fight in the bathtub.

It is a great feeling to be able to give other joy and I am so glad and happy that they were happy for this trip just like I am.

Have a wonderful day!

Teamwork!

Im writing this post from my girlfriend’s hometown and it is about teamwork. We often talk about teamwork in building our network marketing business but do we really apply what we know about teamwork. It’s such an easy term to understand but often it is a hard act to perform.

My girl friend’s cousin is having a party and from what I observed, not only er family but the families of her uncles and aunties are dropping by in helping out. They are planning a huge party for 80 people or so for her 21st birthday. I thought Wow….

It is just a birthday but maybe to them, it is a big deal because they have a strong bond within their relatives. As I was with them, they were having a relax meeting about who is going to do what. One uncle said he will be in charge of renting a mobile dessert van that will just park in front of the house. Another said he will arrange people to come and build tents or canopy. Im not that sure as they were speaking a different dialect.

Then the mother is saying that she will be in charge of the food while the daughter herself will take care of the guest list. I said to myself, Wow…. Even though it is just a birthday party, these people are really serious and dedicated. This reminds me of my working environment in the capital. The teamwork that I have is not as good as them.

In our meeting, we will people coming late; some will cancel last minute and much more. I just do not realize why some people is so laid back that they won’t even find the effort to attend internet meetings that will only take 30 minutes of their time at home.

Is it that hard? Of course everyone will have different difficulties but not attending because they cant and because they won’t is totally a different thing. However, please don’t get the wrong idea that I am accusing you as a reader for not taking action or not having teamwork. I’m just sharing my thoughts about the happenings around my life. That is what blogging is about right!!!
